Tektona is an agentic development platform. It gives AI agents isolated cloud dev environments with real tooling (SSH, VS Code, terminals), orchestrates their work through structured workflows, and keeps humans in the loop at checkpoints you define. Available as a managed cloud service or for deployment on your own infrastructure.

Two modes. Static templates define repeatable sequences — plan steps, verification gates, human approval points — for common tasks like bug fixes or feature builds. For open-ended work, an AI planning agent breaks the task down dynamically. Both modes use the same verification and feedback mechanisms.

Agents pause at checkpoints you define and ask for human input. Review a plan before execution, approve changes before merge, or redirect an agent that's going off track. Escalation works via Slack, GitHub, tickets, or the Tektona dashboard.

Each agent runs in its own sandbox — a Kubernetes pod with a dedicated filesystem, network isolation, and resource limits. Choose between namespace isolation (Sysbox) for dev workloads or VM-level isolation (Kata Containers) for untrusted code. Sandboxes can be forked instantly for parallel work.

Yes. Tektona ships as machine images you boot on your own servers or cloud VMs. The control plane and workload clusters can run on separate Kubernetes clusters for security isolation, or on a single cluster for simplicity. Same platform, same API as the cloud version.
